After meeting at the dock we will reach Pisa (30 minutes drive) through the old Aurelia Way flanked with hundreds of “umbrella” pine trees and with a striking view of the Alpi Apuane and its white marble quarries.
Once in Pisa we will visit The Field of the Miracles with the Leaning Tower (opportunity to climb the Tower, takes 30 min, pre booking recommended), the Baptistery (the biggest ever made) and the Duomo. We will then drive to Piazza dei Cavalieri (Square of the Knights) considered one of the most beautiful square in Europe.
We will then head the Charterhouse of Calci for a suggestive guided visit of this unique religious site and its pharmacy founded in 1366.
The following itinerary will bring us to explore the countryside of Pisa and the wine region, driving throughout back roads before arriving to Spazzavento family run winery. Here you will have a guided visit of the vineyards, cellar, a wine taste followed by an easy farm style lunch (pasta, salad, cheese, salami, etc.). After lunch we will have a stop at the medieval town of Lari visiting its Castle, and finally we will drive back to the ship.
