Chianti Countryside & Wine Taste (9 hours)

After meeting at the dock we will take the speedway towards Florence and will approach the Chianti countryside through a beautiful panoramic road overlooking typical gentle hills with vineyards, olive groves and farm houses. First stop will be in Greve where Giovanni da Verrazzano, who discovered the bay of New York, was born. We will visit Piazza Matteotti with its porticoes, enjoying the many little handicraft shops, wine cellars and the five-century-old butcher’s shop Falorni, famous all over the world for his beef, salami, ham and all sorts of sausages. We will then enter trough the Chiantigiana Road in the heart of the Chianti Classico where the most famous Italian red wine, with the black rooster as a symbol, is produced. We will discover the real “under a Tuscan sun” feeling driving through a unique scenic itinerary and the little towns of Panzano, Castellina and Gaiole. After a guided visit of the beautiful 13th century Meleto Castle and a proper wine & olive oil taste we will drive back to the ship.
